About Seamax & Edge of the Wild

This Is More Than a Movie. It’s an Invitation.

Alaska is vast. Wild. Humbling.
But most travelers only scratch the surface.

That’s why owners Mike Opatril and Lance Ziebarth, adventure lovers with deep ties to Ketchikan and the cruise industry, created Seamax: a 4D cinematic experience that brings Alaska’s spirit to life — in just 40 minutes.

They’ve experienced this type of immersive film around the world and knew it belonged here in Alaska. Not everyone has time for 10 excursions in a single cruise stop. But through Seamax, everyone can feel the magic, danger, and wonder of this land.

Whether it’s your first time here or your fiftieth, Edge of the Wild will move you, inspire you — and maybe even spark your next journey.

“I’ve seen how Alaska changes people. My hope is that this film isn’t the end of your adventure — it’s just the beginning.” – Josiah Martin, Director

Meet the Director

Josiah Martin is a third-generation Alaskan and the founder of Martin Media.
Born and raised on the Kenai Peninsula, he grew up surrounded by tourism, adventure, and wild beauty — eventually launching a YouTube channel to share his own Alaskan explorations.

After studying psychology and business marketing in college, Josiah turned his storytelling passion into a full-time filmmaking career. Since founding Martin Media in 2017, he’s produced promotional films for communities across Alaska — from Kenai to Seldovia — along with outdoor documentaries, brand campaigns, and tourism films.

Edge of the Wild is his most ambitious project yet: a full-sensory experience created to move hearts, stir imaginations, and bring Alaska’s raw beauty to travelers from around the world.

Where We Filmed – And Who Helped Us Get There

We partnered with some of the best adventure operators in the state to capture real, unforgettable moments in wild places. These aren’t sets — they’re the real deal.

Alaska West Air – Kenai Peninsula

Bear viewing & salmon fishing adventures.

Bad Chicken Charters – Ninilchik, Alaska

Halibut fishing with local flavor.

Seward Helicopter Tours – Seward, Alaska

Dog mushing on glaciers via heli-access.

NOVA Guides – Hope, Alaska

White water rafting on glacier-fed rivers.

Jet Skiing in Whittier, Alaska

Jet skiing through icy ocean waters.
Capturing these moments wasn’t easy. It took the entire summer
of 2025, constant weather tracking, and lots of patience to get the perfect light, the clearest views — and the cooperation of a few unpredictable wild animals.

There’s More to See. A Lot More.

Cruise stops offer a taste of Alaska — but this state is bigger, wilder, and more diverse than most travelers ever realize.

Edge of the Wild was created to bring some of Alaska’s most incredible places into one unforgettable experience — from Denali to the Kenai Peninsula, from glacier rivers to bear country. But there’s nothing like seeing it for yourself.

We hope this experience inspires you to plan your return — not just to cruise, but to explore more of Alaska firsthand.

Alaska is calling. There’s more to discover.
